Mourning Seminars & Assistance

Losing a loved one is a difficult experience to go through. Grief is a natural reaction to loss, but it can be a very confusing and overwhelming emotion. There is no right or wrong way to grieve and there is no timetable for how long the process should take.

There are a few things that can be helpful to keep in mind when dealing with grief:

  1. Allow yourself to feel whatever emotions come up. It’s normal to feel sadness, anger, confusion and guilt.
  2. Speak about your loved one and your feelings. It can be helpful to talk about the deceased and your grief with friends or family.
  3. Do something to honour your loved one's memory. This could be something as simple as planting a tree in their memory.
  4. Seek professional help if you are struggling to cope with your grief. A counselor can help you find healthy ways to cope with your loss.

At W Larcombe & Son Funerals & Monuments, we host grief and bereavement seminars at St Andrew’s Chapel in Dubbo three-to-four times a year. Reach out to our caring team on (02) 6882 3199 to find out more.

The Five Stages of Grief

There are typically five stages of grief people experience after losing a loved one. Understanding them can help you to come to terms with your loss:

  1. Denial: Some people may refuse to believe that their loved one is gone. They may try to distract themselves from the pain.
  2. Anger: This is when people feel angry at the person who died, at themselves or at the world in general.
  3. Bargaining: Some may try to make deals with God or the universe, promising to be a better person if their loved one comes back.
  4. Depression: It’s common to feel numb and hopeless during this stage. People may also lose interest in activities that they used to enjoy.
  5. Acceptance. This is when people come to terms with their loss and become able to move on with their lives.
